Talking Big Ideas.
This post is to create skin in the game.
I’ll be sharing ideas and excerpts on Substack, though mostly I’ll be heads down for the next few months working on my rough draft.
The book will teach a system we created at the Ewing School while working with serious thinkers who perform under real pressure, from preparing for U.S. Supreme Court arguments and Congressional testimonies to keynotes, public forums, and private conversations.
Below is a brief blurb. If it resonates and you’d like to offer honest feedback, leave a comment or reach out. I’ll be inviting a small group of beta readers to review early chapters.
Thanks!
Bob

BOOK BLURB:
This book is for serious thinkers working with complex ideas who want to speak well under pressure. The core problem isn’t talent or confidence. It’s the absence of a system for getting better.
Most speaking books focus on tips, mindsets, or optimizing performance. This one is different. It teaches a system for continual progress, a way to train speaking rather than just perform it.
Most serious thinkers rely on two weak defaults that fail to build lasting ability and collapse under pressure:
- System 1: everyday talking. Natural, but rambling.
- System 2: scripted performance. Eloquent, but unnatural.
This book teaches a third approach: System 3. It’s cultivated intuition, a foundation for excellence in diverse fields from leadership and decision making to math and sports.
In speaking, System 3 means internalizing structure and insight so judgment and presence guide what you say in the moment. You become both natural and eloquent. Clear, confident, and flexible in real situations. Apply the system, and you improve every time you speak. Progress compounds and transformation follows.
The goal is to think bigger than performance and take responsibility for advancing ideas that make the world better.
